about

Expat Counselling

It all started when I moved to a new country for the 5th time …

In 2015 I started my private expatriate counselling clinic in Moscow, with an office at the Anglo American School of Moscow, where I served students, staff and parents of the school as an external counsellor, as my private practice grew, I also started a clinic in the centre of Moscow next to the Bolshoi Theater.

In 2019 I repatriated to Copenhagen, Denmark and worked as a social and emotional high school counsellor at Copenhagen International School, as I was not sure if my clients would follow online. They did.

Online counselling has shown to be a great success. In 2021 I went back to full-time counselling and now have a clinic in the greater Copenhagen area, but I see most of my international clients online.

In 2024 Expat Counselling expanded now offers an assessment through Kirsten Baldocchi, a qualified psychologist and assessments expert from South Africa.  Baldocchi has spent many years specialising in childhood and educational development and has worked at several of South Africa's most prestigious private schools and is an expat herself.

We love working online an in person with international clients and supporting them in the wonders and challenges of expatriate life while they transition in and out of their new locations, jobs and life challenges and feel very privileged to have build a counselling platform that is not bound to a location for me or my clients, but to a common global connection.

For the past 20+ years, I have worked in the field of education, counselling psychology, and cultural sociology. My primary counselling approaches are WATCH, PREP, CBT, narrative therapy, and existentialistic psychology counselling

I have specialised in the field of international counselling of highly qualified professionals, diplomats, academia, university students, IB, MYP students and students at other international schools, and have had more than 300+ clients from 30 nationalities, 19 dual nationalities, and 4000+ individual and group sessions.

As an expatriate myself I have lived and worked in Denmark, Iceland, Switzerland, Greece, twice in Russia and twice in the UK. The combination of my own life experience and professional background as a cultural sociologist and counsellor has provided me with a broad knowledge and understanding of the different aspects of human resources, when working and living outside of one's country of origin and the various kinds of positive and challenging attributes that comes with being a global nomad.
